I'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's!

Over the weekend I attended my fabulous cousin Stacey's bridal shower.  It was Breakfast at Tiffany's theme, perfect for my cousin, who always considered herself to be Holly Golightly.  It was a fabulous girls day, where everyone dressed up, drank champagne and mimosas, and just had a ton of fun!

"Anyone who ever gave you confidence, you owe them a lot." Holly Golightly

"I don't think I've ever drunk champagne before breakfast before.  With breakfast on several occasions, but never before before."  Paul Varjak

"If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany's, then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name." Holly Golightly

{note to my future husband...I'd like a ring like this.  hehe}

"No longer will I play the field.  The field stinks, both economically and socially, and I'm giving it up." Holly Golightly

"I'm always top banana in the shock department." Holly Golightly

"I'll never get used to anything. Anybody that does, they might as well be dead." Holly Golightly

Fill In the Blank Friday

My most prized possession is:
The heart necklace I have of my dad's thumbprint. My mom, sister and I each got one when my father passed away in August.  Everyday I wear it I feel close to him.

If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be:
In my 20s! I work with young kids every day, and as much as I love it (and I feel they keep me young) the 20s are such a fun time.  I'm loving being in my 20s. :)

The best way to spend the weekend is:
with family and friends.  One thing I've learned over the past few years is that it doesn't matter where you are, or what you're doing, but who you're with that matters the most.  Whenever I'm with my family and friends I always have a good time, not matter what we're doing.

My outlook on life is:
"life's too short to be anything but happy"

If you want to annoy me, just:
complain.
I dislike when people constantly complain but don't try to do one thing to change whatever is bothering them.
Be the change that you want to see in the world. -Gandhi

I am completely defenseless when it come to:
reality TV.  No matter how hard I try not to watch it I always get sucked in.  Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives , American Idol, DWTS...the list can go on and on.

When dressing for the day one should:
dress their best!  one of my favorite quotes is:
"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." Coco Chanel

Happy Weekend!!

What I learned this weekend...

* that the more time I spend with my friends the more I adore each and every one of them.

* it never fails that on the one day I'm off from everything and have no obligations, I will get sick and spend most of the day laying on the couch.

* even after graduating college, we can still scare ourselves telling ghost stories and then want to camp out together in the living room so we don't need to spend the night alone (yes, this was my friends and I this weekend)

* that even though I've been driving in winter weather since I've learned to drive, I still get the worst anxiety while driving in the slippery snow... it might actually be getting worse as I'm getting older hehe

* that I can watch Pride and Prejudiced countless times and the movie never gets old.

* that planning a summer vacation somewhere warm and tropical can help combat the winter blues.

so, what did you learn this weekend?

Tropical Dreams & Links I ♥

Right now Kenny Chesney's All I want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan is playing in my head.
To tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind skipping the traditional 'white Christmas' for Christmas at the beach...and we almost did do it.  but electrical problems with the condo we were going to stay at is keeping us here in the snowy winter wonderland.  oh well, such is life.  I'll spend my weekend dreaming of warm tropical breezes and the calming sound of the waves as I'm out in the hustle and bustle of last minute holiday shopping and planning.  What will you be doing this weekend?

Weekend Kick-Start

I had the perfect morning to kick-start the weekend!  Having the day off work {thanks to teacher in-service day} I was able to sleep in for the first time in a while.  I mean really sleep in, turn off the alarm, and sleep until my body naturally wakes up.  I made myself breakfast, instead of scarfing down a bowl of cereal, and leisurely enjoyed 2 cups of coffee.  Pure joy.

and now I look forward to a weekend full of Italian dinners, complete with wine. meeting my friend's new baby boy for the first time. catching up on project runway. and enjoying the fabulous fall weather.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

p.s. I love reading all your comments on yesterday's post.  I think we all should go out to dinner alone sometime and have some quality "me time" :)

Weekend Day Dreams

ahhh, it's finally Friday!  This week just seemed to inch by and the weekend could not get here fast enough. I feel exhausted and I'm starting to realize that my go-go-go lifestyle is finally catching up with me.  I find myself day dreaming of a weekend getaway (I'm googling flight prices as I type this). Somewhere fun and exciting, far away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.  now if only I could be the girl in these pictures...enjoying the beauty of a holiday on the coast of an Italian town...

What are you dreaming of this weekend?

Weekend Wishes

Looking forward to, what I hope is, a relaxing weekend.  Summer's winding down, and with a little over 2 weeks left until school starts, I'll be heading back to set up my classroom this coming week. This weekend I plan on enjoying the sunshine and relaxing as much as I can before the back to school whirlwind begins. I'll also mix in dinner and drinks with some of my closest girlfriends.  How will you be enjoying your weekend?

Weekend Snapshots

The surprise party on Friday went wonderfully. Not only was my friend extremely surprised, but all us guests were surprised when her boyfriend of almost 8 years proposed to her!! It was such a happy night, and since he choose to have the party at the bowling ally {another place she'd never expect} we got to try on some awesome bowling shoes and give our bowling skills a whirl. I haven't been bowling since high school, and even though we were all so bad it made it even that much more fun!

The baby shower I attended was another spectacular event. My friend's expecting a little girl and I loved the way they decorated using one of my favorite color combinations...pink and green! And then of course for dessert they had my favorite, cupcakes! I couldn't get enough of the pink gerber daisy's on the tops, which just happens to be my favorite flower. :)

I ended the weekend celebrating my aunt's 60th birthday, where she had everyone over for swimming and a cookout. There's nothing like spending quality time with family. I have a large extended family, and it's difficult getting everyone together all the time, so I really savor the moments when it does happen. The kids splashed around in the pool all day into the night, and it wouldn't be a summer celebration without setting off some fireworks.

Over all it was a wonderful weekend! How was all of yours?

Happy Weekend! + {Links I ♥}

As I read some of the other blogs out there by teachers, I know that most are preparing or are already back to school.  Well, in this part of the world, we don't start back until after Labor Day, so I plan on making the most of the time I have left to try and enjoy my summer {despite everything that has happened recently}.

Tonight I'm attending a surprise party for a good friend.  Her birthday isn't actually for two weeks, so she will not be expecting this party at all!  I also plan on getting in a lot more pool time, as well as attend a baby shower for another friend at work {seems everyone is getting pregnant} and celebrating my Aunt's 60th birthday! Lots of time with family and friends - my favorite. :)

A Weekend of Celebration

I've been looking forward to this weekend all week.  It starts off with a baby shower for a good friend of mine from work.  I'm so excited to help her celebrate and shower her with gifts for her new little one who's on the way.  I also will be attending a surprise Retirement Dinner for my Godfather.  He retired from being the captain of the fire department back in January and has no idea this dinner has been planed for him, it's going be a fun surprise.  Celebrating good friends and family makes for a wonderful weekend! What do you have planned?

a very summery drink recipe:

Strawberry Champagne recipe

3 oz Champagne
3/4 oz vodka
3/4 oz strawberry brandy

Pour into a wine glass half-filled with broken ice. Garnish with two halves of a strawberry, and serve.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Island In the Sun

Dreaming of spending this hot and humid weekend out on the boat, escaping to a little island paradise. To tell you the truth, I almost forgot today was Friday, but that's what happens when your summer schedule is less structured. Days blend together, weekdays have no distinction from weekends, you stay up late, sleep-in in the mornings, and plan your days based on your mood. and my mood is telling me to be by some form of water, with a yummy drink in hand, having no worries in the world but to be happy. :)

wishing you all a happy and worry free weekend!!
