...and a heart don't forget something like that ♥

a while ago I did a post on my love for country music, and how I didn't always feel that way about the music genre.  It wasn't until college that I started to listen to country music, thanks to my roommates who LOVED it, and it quickly grew on me.  The first song I liked was "Something Like That" by Tim McGraw.  My friend Emily and I would call it our "good day song", and would listen to it on sunny days when the weather was nice.

 Over the weekend I got to see Tim in concert and it was amazing!  The Band Perry opened, and my friends and I lucked out, getting seats right by the stage, so close I got to touch him! haha

right by the stage! :)

so, how was your weekend?  do anything exciting?

California Dreaming

I was introduce to The Makepeace Brothers through Ica.  She described their music 'like a warm southern California day put into a song' and I couldn't agree more.  With the crazy winter storm hitting us here right now, their music is the perfect escape.  I can just listen and pretend I'm somewhere warm, taking a bike ride by the beach...

p.s. Ica is also hosting a giveaway where she's giving away a signed copy of their new album!  check it out and enter! :)

Sarah Turner Music

My best friend's younger sister is well on her way to pursuing a career in country music.
She's been traveling back and forth to Nashville over the past several months, where she co-wrote and recorded the above song, Youngstown, named after our hometown.

In a recent interview with our local news station, she talked about how she grew up wanting to sing on stage with artists like Kenny Chesney. Well I happened to have attended those concerts with her when we were younger.

{at the Kenny Chesney concert in 2007}

I am beyond excited for her, and I really hope she makes it in that crazy business.
The next time she and her sister go to Nashville I demanded I come along! :)

Life's Soundtrack

Whenever I hear this song I am filled with nostalgia. I think of my time spent growing up in this hometown of mine. My friend's and all the memories we created together until it was time to leave for college. Then I think of those 5 wonderful years I spent in my second home. Sometimes I miss those days so much it hurts. and of course I think of my Dad. He used to love telling us stories of his childhood and the city he grew up in. The city is a lot different now, and whenever I find myself driving through it I try to imagine what it was like back when my dad was a young kid. A bittersweet feeling as I look back on those "Glory Days".
